'See You Next Month'

- No One Came's latest demo -

The Concept

Two old friends get to play music together again during a very special week end. One song is composed and recorded in 3 days (nights), and here begins the adventure.

One or Two week ends for one song, every month, this is the concept of the demo. Each song is related to one of these week ends of "creative Freedom". Everything is instrumental, no lyrics so that you can have your own interpretation and feeling about the music itself.

Tracks (mp3s)

Our demo is still in work (many more week ends to come). You can already hear some drafts:

The Recording

Everything is recorded in my home studio, all instruments plugged into the computer (my neighbors don't know how lucky they are). For more information about the gear we use, please go to my personal home page.

We either start with one of our personal ideas or we jam together until something comes up. When enough ideas have been found, the structure of the song is written, and then we go to bed (this is the first evening/night). Now comes the nightmare... The day after is dedicated to  the first ideas recording. We first have to remember what happened the day before, and work a little bit in order to record that stuff properly, drums and bass included. The last day (Sunday, which is a short day since Stephane has to go back home), if we worked hard enough the day before, we just have to add some tracks, record a few solos and it's done. I then have one month to make the mix re-record very bad tracks, and we switch to next song.

Well, that was the ideal schedule which worked in the beginning as we had longer week ends and we did not go out of the studio until the song was over. Now it is a little bit different since we also try to meet people and see the sun during these week ends (Summer has come). So now the same process is divided in two week ends. We also try to re-work old songs as most tracks are first takes and should be re-recorded, but for the moment it is only a demo so we try to finish our compositions before re-recording everything properly.

Further more, we would like to play live with other musicians (if you are a bassist or a drummer please cont@ct us: noonecame[at]bluecatonline.org) in order to have fun and make the songs get better before recording a definitive auto-produced CD.
